LAMBORGHINI
ESPADA SERIES 2
This Espada was brought into use for the first time in South Africa in 1970 by Mr. Luigi D’Ovidio, the owner of Italian Classic Cars in Johannesburg and dealer for Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Lancia and Alfa Romeo. It is believed that this is the first Espada that was imported to South Africa. In 1986, the car passed into the hands of Mr. Alex Divov, who sold the car as a restoration project to Mr. A.K. van der Merwe, the last registered owner, in 1998. At that moment, the odometer read 72,000 km. Van der Merwe decided on a body-off restoration of the car and a revision of the engine. All these works were carried out by renowned specialists. Finally, in 2002, the car came back on the road, and has been driven for only 8,000 km since then. A detailed account by the last owner reveals a lot about the history of the car and the restoration process.
